In what at this point seems physically and geometrically impossible, Donald Trump has somehow found a way to reach yet another new low. In an apparent effort to help his toxic reputation and historic unpopularity heading into the midterms, Trump sat down for an interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday night. All he had to do was pretend to be halfway human, and based on low expectations alone, he could have won the night. Instead he found a way to blow it – and then he really blew it.

Donald Trump signed an executive order months ago which supposedly scaled back his unconstitutional and inhuman practice of locking immigrant kids inside cages in concentration camps. But by all accounts he’s made no progress in reuniting the families he’s destroyed, and now there’s talk that he might try to expand the monstrous program. Naturally, Leslie Stahl had some questions about this for Trump during their 60 Minutes interview.

Trump seemed to think that he could get away with simply pushing the absurd lie that President Obama also locked immigrant kids in cages. That kind of deranged response might work at one of Trump’s rallies, but back in the real world, no mentally competent person buys that kind of nonsense. Trump seemed stunned that Stahl didn’t like his lying answer. When she decided to move on, he simply blurted out “I’m president and you’re not.”

That’s right, the career criminal who’s illegally occupying the White House is also a two year old who thinks it’s fun to flaunt the power he’s stolen. When this crime spree is over and Donald Trump is in a prison cell, and 60 Minutes sends someone to interview him in the prison courtyard just to find out how miserable he is, we’re left to wonder what faux-clever zingers he’ll have come up with by then.
