I’m pissed off
Even as I’ve been covering this news cycle over the past day and a half, I’ve been struggling to put my finger on why I feel so weird about it. Donald Trump, his henchmen, and his co-conspirators are finally getting what they arguably deserve. They allowed hundreds of thousands of Americans to die in a pandemic for selfish and psychotic reasons, and now they’re the ones who are sick.
I don’t feel pleased about the fact that Donald Trump is in the hospital and having trouble breathing, or that his co-conspirators like Hope Hicks and Kellyanne Conway are sick as well. Nor do I feel any guilt or sympathy. Instead, I’m angry at them. In fact I’m pissed off at them. They’ve spent four years doing everything they could to debase and destabilize this country for selfish reasons. Now they’ve finally destroyed themselves, and they’ve left us with no functioning government whatsoever.
We now have a President of the United States who’s indefinitely hospitalized and could die. We have a White House that clearly has no idea what it’s doing, no clue about what to tell the public, and no ability to manage anything. We have an outbreak of the plague in the United States Senate. We’re in the middle of a Presidential election, and we can’t even hold the rest of the debates.
Donald Trump and his henchmen, through their evil and their derangement and their greed, have finally found a way to destroy themselves. They’re sick, they’re contagious, and their already-remote odds of winning the election just became even more remote. They’ve made a mess for themselves – but it’s just as much of a mess for our country. Above all else, I’m simply pissed off at them for letting it happen.
