If Steve Bannon is winning, I’d hate to see what losing looks like

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Steve Bannon is broke, unemployed, looks like he’s living out of a dumpster, is facing criminal prosecution on the state and federal level, and his next stop is prison. Yet the major media outlets – and even Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update – keep insisting this all means Bannon is somehow winning. If that’s the case, I’d hate to see what losing looks like.

This is a common theme. Even as Donald Trump spent four years spinning his wheels and failing to get anywhere close to being in a position to win, cheat or steal reelection, the media spent the entire time insisting that Trump’s every idiotic move meant he somehow had us right where he wanted us.

The media nearly always portrays right wing villains as either winning or on the verge of a comeback, because it scares mainstream viewers into staying tuned in. In fact, when Trump and Bannon do get arrested, the media will likely spin that as being a big win for them as well. It’s just how the media covers right wing villains, regardless of what the real story is. It’s time for these kinds of ratings-driven narratives to end.
