“I think you would have seen fists thrown”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Often, when insane public events happen, the public only gets HALF the story. The rest of the dirty details have a way of leaking out. That’s precisely what’s happening now regarding the Republicans’ ousting of Kevin Has-been McCarthy.

As we know, the GOP has done a royally good job this week of showing the American people what a bunch of losers and failures they are. But it seems what took place during Kevin’s fall from grace was worse than we knew. Apparently, Republicans were a lot angrier than we knew.

Republican representative Garrett Graves appeared on CNN and told Jake Tapper things were so toxic in that room that punches were nearly thrown. That’s right. The Republican House club nearly became the fight club.

People were nearly coming to blows, Graves solemnly told Tapper, showing that Republicans DO have a hidden talent and that talent is temper tantrums. “If we had stayed together in the meeting last night, I think you would have seen fists thrown.”

How lovely! The Republicans’ own fight club in the House of Representatives. It really isn’t all too surprising. “There are a lot of raw emotions right now.” Wait, stop. RAW EMOTIONS?

The GOP who does not show emotion when the Capitol is taken over by insurrectionists, who could not care less about helping people below the poverty line, who don’t give a damn about anything except power, were RAW WITH EMOTION?

Whatever were they grieving? The political demise of a bland, weak, politically calculating fool like McCarthy? That says a lot. Graves had gotten emotional himself on the house floor railing against the alt-right of the party. THAT I can understand.

So here is my question, and it’s an important one — can the GOP control their primal urges to throw punches? Because there will be a vote next week for a new speaker, and by gosh we KNOW some insane happening will rear its ugly head.

So perhaps THIS is the reason why the House has ominously closed its doors for the week. They’re all in mourning for Kevin McCarthy.

I do think the GOP should perhaps take anger management classes and, while they’re at it, perhaps take a Poly Sci class as well, particularly one with a focus on how to govern because they seem to have forgotten how.
