I can’t believe Donald Trump’s babysitters were stupid enough to do what they just did

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I can’t believe Trump’s campaign was dumb enough to admit to the media yesterday that he’s canceling numerous events down the stretch because he’s “exhausted.” They’re trying to cover for something even worse – dementia. But when your candidate is a feeble 78 year old, you do not go out and admit that he’s too “exhausted” to even campaign, let alone govern if he were to win.

If you’re looking for excuses to explain your elderly candidate’s absences from the campaign trail, you pick anything but “exhausted.” You claim his imaginary cousin died. You pretend he has ebola. But exhausted? You’re just giving up at that point.

I wrote yesterday morning that as Trump was continuing to cancel campaign events, his babysitters were going to have a harder and harder time explaining it away. But even I didn’t know that they were immediately going to turn around and turn a no-win situation into a “blow it as badly as possible” situation. Exhausted? Really? They might as well just announce that Trump is forfeiting.

But as I wrote yesterday, while Trump trying to forfeit the election is obviously good for us on the whole, there is a danger in this. It’s easy to say to ourselves, well, if Trump is falling apart this badly, we’ve got it in the bag. And maybe we do have it in the bag. But I’m not willing to bet our future on “maybe” or even “probably” and I know you’re not either.

So let’s promise ourselves and each other that we’ll spend these final seventeen days working our tails off. Let’s leave it all on the field and leave nothing to chance. The harder we work down the stretch, the more votes Kamala Harris will likely win by, and the sooner the election will be called in her favor. We have a chance to wrap this up on election night instead of five days later, if we keep working hard. So let’s work hard.
