I alone can fix it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In a moment that was profoundly chilling at the time, Donald Trump used his Republican National Convention speech to lay out a number of faux-problems with the United States before insisting that “I alone can fix it.” No one in a democracy should ever talk that way or think that way.

In hindsight that moment was a warning about everything that would follow. Three and a half years later, Donald Trump’s deranged nature, combined with his “I alone can fix it” mentality, has left America in ruins. We’re in a plague, a depression, and now Minneapolis is on fire.

Donald Trump has fixed nothing. He’s made our nation’s existing problems worse. He’s created new problems that didn’t even exist, including some new problems that we didn’t even think were possible in this country. Everything is worse. Everyone is worse off.

America has been brought to its knees. The fact that Donald Trump is on track to lose the election, and then go to prison, is of only mild consolation. The worsening loss of life, the needless suffering, the incalculable damage… all we can do is end it in November – and then make sure that no one with a mentality even close to that of Trump is ever even so much as elected dog catcher in this country again.
