Howard Dean and others slam dunk fake “Democrat” Tulsi Gabbard

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Tulsi Gabbard seemed to think she could enter the 2020 Democratic primary race for President, and no one would catch on that she’s a right-winger who is a “Democrat” in name only. But things are quickly turning ugly for her, prompting the media, and a number of respected Democrats across the spectrum to call her out.

The trouble began when, shortly after Tulsi Gabbard entered the race, CNN made a point of highlighting the vicious anti-gay remarks she made while she was holding lower office in years past. Gabbard has already apologized for her previous stances, and she has since begun supporting LGBT rights. Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas tweeted a few days ago that Gabbard’s campaign could be a good thing because it will “allow everyone to see how horrible she is,” and that’s already proving to be the case. But th gay bashing is just the beginning of what’s wrong with Gabbard’s past – and current – views on the issues.

Howard Dean, a very liberal Democrat, tweeted this: “Another reason she is an atrocious candidate. I was on the other side of this argument wearing a bulletproof vest while she was saying this. She is not even a Democrat and she certainly isn’t progressive. She is an ambitious moral shipwreck.” Former Senator Claire McCaskill, a moderate Democrat, tweeted this about Gabbard: “Oh please. Isn’t this Assad’s (he who commits mass murder on his own people) bestie in America?”

Near the end of President Obama’s time in office, Gabbard posted a tweet bashing Obama while praising Vladimir Putin. Gabbard has repeatedly stated her support for genocidal Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, who is a Russian puppet. Gabbard met one-on-one with Donald Trump immediately after the 2016 election. The Kremlin-controlled publication “Russia Today” keeps heaping praise on Gabbard.

Something obviously doesn’t add up here. This comes even as sketchy Facebook groups have popped up supporting her campaign over the weekend, including one encouraging Hillary Clinton supporters to throw their support behind Tulsi Gabbard. This is surreal, considering that Gabbard resigned from the DNC during the 2016 primary, while falsely claiming that the primary had been rigged for Clinton, in a bizarre attempt at creating phony controversy. Yet now the pro-Gabbard marketing pitch on Facebook is that she’s supposedly Hillary’s heir apparent?

We think Tulsi Gabbard’s record alone is enough to disqualify her from the 2020 Democratic primary race. The party has plenty of room for liberals, progressives, and reasonable moderates. But there’s no room in the party for Gabbard’s past history of gay bashing and her current status as a pro-Putin, pro-Assad, Trump-friendly, anti-Obama, right winger. The fact that Russian propaganda outlets and disingenuous Facebook groups are trying to prop up her campaign is even more disconcerting.
