How did Donald Trump not see this coming?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If you’d told me that Donald Trump was going to call up Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger this weekend and demand that the election be overturned, I’d have bet all my money that Raffensperger and/or his people would record the call and leak it. How did Trump and his idiot henchmen not see this coming?

When you listen to Trump on the call, you can hear that he’s a combination of desperate and confused, suggesting that he’s truly at the end of his rope, and that his cognitive abilities are more diminished than ever. Okay, so maybe Trump, half senile and facing prison, figuring he has nothing left to lose, decides to try something this naive and stupid. But the people around him?

Trump’s advisers have always been idiots, because he chooses them based on personal loyalty and overall distastefulness, rather than competence. They’re not even good at being villains. But the people who are left around Trump at this point are so bad at this, they’re not helping him at all. In fact they just helped ensure that Trump – and perhaps themselves – will rot in prison.
