House Republicans go MIA as Speaker debacle reaches a new low
Tom Emmer officially became the Republican Party’s nominee for Speaker of the House today, only to withdraw his name today. Wait, that can’t be right, can it? Yep, his candidacy began and ended on the same day. Now House Republicans have picked yet another new nominee for Speaker tonight, Mike Johnson – or did they?
During tonight’s closed door caucus meeting, not a single House Republican present voted against Mike Johnson. Sounds united, right? The trouble is, an astounding twenty-two House Republicans were missing in action from the meeting. And many of them reportedly weren’t there specifically because they don’t support Johnson.
So now it appears Mike Johnson – a far right extremist who has the support of the most unhinged turds in the Republican House – will go to a full floor vote without having the votes. Sound familiar? We’ll see what these idiots do tomorrow.
