House Republican Paul Gosar goes on violently unhinged tirade as GOP falls to pieces

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Days ago Donald Trump made a social media post suggesting that his former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Mark Milley, be put to death. Even as we wait to find out whether this is a violation of Trump’s pretrial conditions and what punishment he’ll face, his idiot allies are now rushing to do the same.

House Republican Paul Gosar has now sent out a newsletter saying that “in a better society,” Milley “would be hung.” Legal experts will have to address whether this meets the legal definition of incitement of violence, and whether Gosar can get in criminal trouble for talking like this. Whereas Trump is out on bail and subject to restrictions on what he can get away with saying, Gosar – who hasn’t (yet) been indicted anywhere – knows he’s more likely to get away with talking like this.

That said, while Gosar may get away with this kind of rhetoric in the legal sense, this kind of thing tends to play very poorly with the kinds of voters closer to the middle who decide competitive elections. Gosar may be in a safe far right district, but his words will certainly be used against the Republican candidates running in moderate House districts in 2024. In that sense the Republican Party is falling apart and actively harming its own 2024 prospects.

Meanwhile, as Republican members of Congress like Paul Gosar are now openly calling for what would amount to a war against the United States, much of the mainstream media is still chasing ratings by running headlines about how certain Democratic members of Congress are dressed. It’s time for the jokers in the media to get their act together and do their jobs. Serious times call for serious people.
