House Ethics Committee leaks ugly new dirt about Matt Gaetz
House Republicans have been hinting for awhile that they intend to use a forthcoming House Ethics Committee report as a basis for getting rid of Matt Gaetz. But with the House Republican majority continuing to shrink, they may not be able to pull off ousting Gaetz and replacing him in a special election without losing the majority in the process.
Now it appears someone on the House Ethics Committee is tired of waiting, and has tipped off the media that the committee has a witness who swears having seen Gaetz at a party involving drugs and minors.
This isn’t new, given all the existing allegations against Gaetz. But the real story is that someone on the ethics committee is now trying to move the process along of taking Gaetz down. It’s not clear if this person is a Democrat who’s tired of the Republican waiting game, or if it’s a Republican who simply wants Gaetz gone. But we’re guessing there are more such leaks coming, and that an effort will be made to force the issue on Gaetz’s expulsion. Tick tock.
