Hope Hicks has a whole new problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Early in 2018, we saw a startling series of events involving former Trump White House official Hope Hicks. First came reports that former Trump legal spokesman Mark Corallo had witnessed her conspiring with Donald Trump to commit obstruction of justice. Then suddenly Hicks was made to testify before the Trump-controlled House Intel Committee. Then the next day she resigned, thus all but confirming that something was very, very off here. Now she has a whole new problem โ€“ and she’s not the only one.

Omarosa released a new secret recording today. It consists of a conversation between Donald Trump, Hope Hicks, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders which took place about a year ago. The whole thing was a pathetically dishonest attempt at convincing themselves that the Trump-Russia scandal isn’t real. Trump delusionally says “I think Hillary is getting killed with Russia. The real Russia story is Hillary and collusion.” Then the three of them have a debate about whether Hillary Clinton supposedly spent $6 million or $9 million on the Trump-Russia dossier. Every word of this conversation was a lie, but that’s not what matters.

If Omarosa was able to get close enough to Trump, Hicks and Sanders to record a conversation like this, it can’t have been the only time she managed to capture them in this manner. Her pattern thus far has been to release fairly innocuous tapes to establish that she really did have access to the people in question, then release a more damning tape about them. So now Hicks and Sanders have to be racking their brains, trying to recall what they might have said within earshot of Omarosa that could be perceived as scandalous, embarrassing, or criminal in nature.

If the reports are true that Mark Corallo told Robert Mueller about overhearing Hope Hicks promising to destroy evidence, and if his story can be corroborated, Hicks is going to prison for obstruction of justice. That is, of course, unless she cuts a plea deal against Donald Trump โ€“ if she hasn’t done so already. Various legal experts have accused Sarah Huckabee Sanders of committing felony obstruction of justice from behind the podium on numerous occasions. Now we know that Omarosa has tapes of them both โ€“ and she claims she’s fully cooperating with Mueller.
