Everything hits the fan

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Just how bad of a weekend was it for Donald Trump? By Sunday night he was randomly ranting about the supposed insecurities of Oprah Winfrey. Things started off crushingly for him on Friday, and then managed to get even worse as the weekend went on. Today’s is President’s Day, a timely reminder that we don’t currently have a President of the United States, just an illegitimate criminal who’s going off the deep end as his illegal occupation of the White House grows more tenuous for him by the hour.

First, Special Counsel Robert Mueller revealed on Friday that he’d indicted thirteen Russian nationals for conspiring to rig the election in Trump’s favor. Most or all of these Russians will never be brought to trial, because they won’t be extradited here, but that’s not the point. Has any indictment with so little legal firepower behind it ever had such fundamental political influence? We have a grand jury concluding that there’s enough evidence for the Russians to be put on trial for conspiring to rig the election. That indictment had one real target: Trump. But as it turns out, Mueller was just getting started.

By Sunday afternoon, the media was widely reporting that Trump campaign adviser Rick Gates is pleading guilty this week to Russia-related financial crimes. What does Gates have on Trump? Who knows? Maybe nothing. But Gates has everything on Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who in turn has everything on Trump. And even if Trump is too obtuse or delusional to put this together, his attorneys and handlers have surely explained it to him.

No wonder Donald Trump is hitting the panic button. Everything is hitting the fan. He’s been blindsided by one ugly piece of news after another these past few days. His odds of surviving this, which were already very low, just dropped dramatically. Even his broken mind has probably figured that out. It’s why he’s attacking Oprah.
