Hey Donald Trump, go for it!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As Donald Trump becomes more toxically radioactive by the day, even Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell, Karl Rove, and Mike Pence are selfishly turning against him. Trump was impeached by ten House Republicans, and now he faces a potential bipartisan conviction in the Senate. The GOP at large is done with him.

So now it turns out Trump wants to start his own political party. According to the Wall Street Journal, he’s even picked out a name for it: the Patriot Party. Presumably Trump would try to line up a few far-right candidates who are loyal to him, in the hope of… well, nobody knows.

Here’s the thing. Trump is more unpopular than he’s ever been. He’s broke. He’s a pariah and serious people don’t want to work with him. He’s also an inept buffoon who has never built a legitimate organizational infrastructure of any kind. And he’s going to have his hands full with criminal charges and asset forfeitures.

We don’t think Trump is anywhere close to having the ability to pull off any sort of new political party. But he’s more than welcome to try. His “Patriot Party” would only serve to siphon off Republican votes, thus handing more election wins to the Democratic candidates. If Trump wants to do this to the Republican Party on his way down, then by all means, go for it.
