Here’s what we’re looking at tonight

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s 3:30 in the morning on the east coast. If you’re still awake, it’s either because you’re involved in the vote counting and reporting, or you’re sitting at home and rooting for Donald Trump to lose, or you’re Donald Trump and you’re ranting on Twitter about why you’re losing. But seriously, what exactly are we staying up for?

There are two things in play. One is that Joe Biden is now just 665 votes away from pulling ahead in Georgia, and he could pull ahead at any moment. While this would only get Biden to 269 electoral votes and not enough to clinch the presidency, it’s nonetheless a historic sign of progress in Georgia.

The other thing we’re waiting up for is that Joe Biden has now closed to within 18,000 votes in Pennsylvania. The remaining math says that Biden will end up easily winning Pennsylvania. It’s just a matter of when the numbers come in and put him ahead in the state. At that point the news outlets could call Pennsylvania for Biden, which would mean they’d be calling the presidency for Biden.

So right now we’re looking at the possibility of Joe Biden winning the presidency before sunrise, if Pennsylvania is called. Various on-air pundits have hinted that new numbers could come in from Philadelphia in the 4:00am hour. So we’ll keep waiting up.
