Here’s the thing about Merrick Garland’s press conference today

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Merrick Garland indicts Steve Bannon, he sure as heck isn’t going to call a press conference and try to politicize it. So every media outlet and political pundit knew today’s press conference wasn’t going to be about Bannon. But many of them hyped it that way anyway, so they could use it as an opportunity act betrayed and outraged afterward.

Also, the press release stated that the Treasury Secretary would be participating. So that 100% ruled out any possibility of it being about Bannon’s contempt charges. But why bother with facts like this when there’s outrage to be manufactured for retweets and ratings?

It’s important to understand that the anti-Garland hysteria coming from liberal political pundits is little more than ratings-driven performance art. These pundits all claim to know that Garland isn’t going to prosecute Trump, when there’s no way they could possibly have that inside information. That alone should disqualify them. Yet they gain traction by making things up about Garland, because it plays on your worst fear – that Trump will magically get away with it all – when they have no basis for making this claim.
