Here’s how you know Merrick Garland is doing his job right

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The popular narrative is that Attorney General Merrick Garland is a failure, coward, or traitor. But the reasons offered for such claims are usually just plain false. There are widespread claims that Garland’s DOJ hasn’t indicted anyone in Trump world, but in reality it’s indicted Steve Bannon, Tom Barrack, and others. Then there are the claims that the DOJ isn’t investigating Donald Trump, but that’s been disproven by everything from the DOJ’s 1/6 grand jury that’s been targeting Trump world for several months, to the DOJ’s letter to Congress confirming it’s investigating Trump for having taken classified documents to Mar-a-Lago.

Even as the whining about Garland goes on and on from those who have no knowledge of the facts of the matter and even less understanding of the processes involved, back in the real world we’re seeing more and more evidence pile up that Garland is in fact doing his job correctly.

On Monday, a trial jury convicted a former NYPD officer on all counts for his role in the Capitol attack. As pointed out by CBS News, of all the January 6th cases that have gone to trial thus far, every jury has convicted every defendant on all charges. This is in addition to the numerous other Capitol attackers who have pleaded guilty and/or cut deals instead of going to trial.

This is because the cases are being constructed correctly by Garland’s DOJ. Not one juror in one trial has found fault with one charge that’s been brought in relation to January 6th. That’s what happens when you don’t rush cases, you don’t cut corners, and you do take the time to flip people upward so that you’re going into trial with comprehensive cases instead of flimsy ones.

This comes even as a second Oath Keepers leader has cut a cooperating deal with the DOJ, and at least one Proud Boys leader has done the same. One of those Oath Keepers leaders just happens to have been Roger Stone’s chauffeur the week of January 6th. These folks are obviously cutting deals against Trump world, which is how the DOJ will end up taking Trump world down. There’s a reason Alex Jones, addled as he may be, is trying to cut a deal with the DOJ. He knows what’s coming. The DOJ is nailing all of this down, and no one is ultimately going to “get away” with anything.
