Donald Trump and his people are facing bad enough news this weekend, now that Steve Bannon has been indicted for contempt of Congress, and it’s become clear that numerous other Trump people will either have to testify or be arrested. But now there’s even worse news for Trump down in Georgia.

Earlier this month the news surfaced that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was considering empaneling a special grand jury in her felony election tampering case against Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Lindsey Graham. The point of the special grand jury would be to allow the probe to skip the line ahead of other criminal cases in the district, thus speeding up the election tampering case significantly.

Sure enough, the Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper is reporting that Willis is “likely” to empanel a special grand jury, and that the move could be “imminent.” It’s always tricky to pin down any indictment timetable. But this move will significantly speed up the timetable in Georgia. At this point it’s a question of whether New York or Georgia indicts and arrests Trump first.
