Here comes the REAL Project 2025

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We’ve already got a fairly busy election year in 2025 with races in both Virginia and New Jersey for governor coming up that could be highly competitive – and a number of other local special elections are happening in Virginia leading up to election night on November 4. There’s a particularly important special election coming up as well – yet another non-partisan one scheduled to take place on April 1 in Wisconsin – a swing state that currently has a liberal majority on the state supreme court.

We won a supreme court race in Wisconsin last year by an overwhelming 11-point margin when Janet Protasiewicz was elected, beating a notorious right-wing judge. Now, the candidate to file behind is Susan Crawford, who is currently involved in a lawsuit on behalf of public school teachers to restore their collective bargaining rights. Her opponent is the state’s former attorney general, who therefore has considerable name recognition and makes the race a real contest. He’s also the guy behind carrying out the infamous right to work laws in Wisconsin before he left office in 2019.

Conservatives have already sounded the alarm – that the race is more important than the one for governor or any of the legislative races – and although the candidates are not running with their political affiliations after their name, it is clear that they don’t want Susan Crawford to win – the candidate we need to bring over the line there at all costs if we want to continue the inroads we’ve been making in that state as far as state races and finally breaking up its legislative supermajority. Let’s do what we can to get her elected on Apr 1.
