Here comes the Kamala Harris TikTok revolution

Even before she became the 2024 Democratic nominee for President, Kamala Harris was something of a star on the youth oriented TikTok platform. Her infectious laugh and joyful approach to politics found its way into multiple viral TikTok videos.

But Kamala Harris wasn’t actually on TikTok – until now. As of today she’s created her own TikTok account. This is a brilliant move. It helps her directly reach young voters. And it also preemptively fends off any claims that she might be trying to ban TikTok. Republicans have long spread (false) claims that the Biden administration was trying to ban the platform, and some people have fallen for it. But no one is going to fall for such a notion now.

If you’re too old to want to deal with figuring out what TikTok is, don’t worry about it. All you need to know is that Kamala Harris is taking the online party to the part of the internet where young voters are most likely to hang out – and that’s a win.
