Here comes President Obama
Shortly after Bernie Sanders announced today that he’s dropping out of the race, CNN reported that Sanders and President Obama have recently been speaking frequently about how to move forward. This means that either the Obama camp or the Sanders camp leaked this revelation, with the other’s blessing.
So now we know that President Obama played at least some role in convincing Bernie Sanders to try to help bring the party together, and that Sanders wants everyone to know that he has Obama’s ear in all of this. But there’s more going on here. With Sanders now publicly acknowledging that Joe Biden is going to be the nominee, it opens the door for Obama to endorse Biden at whatever time the two of them end up deciding will have the most impact.
