Here comes Joe Biden’s White House Chief of Staff
It sounds like President-elect Joe Biden will name his White House Chief of Staff as soon as tomorrow. The Washington Post thinks it’s likely to be Ron Klain [Update, 8:04pm: now confirmed to be Ron Klain]. Good. He was the leader of the Obama-Biden administration’s highly successful Ebola task force. That’s the focus we need, considering President-elect Biden will be stepping into a worsening coronavirus pandemic.
This also serves as a reminder that Joe Biden has been around the presidential block enough times to know how things actually work, and how to effectively work around Donald Trump’s ongoing sore loser tantrum. Biden knows his most effective way at cementing the fact that he won is to start making high profile procedural moves, such as announcing his Chief of Staff – not by matching Trump’s tantrum with foot stomping of his own.
Veterans Day tweet of the day, from President-elect Joe Biden: “Today, we honor the service of those who have worn the uniform of the Armed Forces of the United States. To our proud veterans—I will be a commander in chief who respects your sacrifice, understands your service, and will never betray the values you fought so bravely to defend.”
