Hapless Donald Trump still doesn’t know who he’s running against

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It wouldn’t be a Donald Trump campaign without him resorting to blatant and weird levels of racism. But now that Trump is running against a Black person, he really doesn’t seem to know what to do with himself. Yesterday he tried to accuse Kamala Harris of not being Black. Suffice it to say that it didn’t go over well.

Even as Trump fails to define his new opponent, he’s still clinging to his former opponent. Trump posted this to social media on Wednesday night: “Word is that they refuse to have Sleepy Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention. They hate him, and he hates them!”

To be clear, not one word of that is true. President Biden is reportedly set to be the featured speaker on the first night of the convention, where he’ll be treated like a selfless hero. Trump is merely fantasizing out loud by suggesting that Biden and the Democratic Party now hate each other.

More to the point, Trump is stuck on the wrong opponent. He still doesn’t appear to understand who he’s running against. Each time he strikes out while trying to take on Kamala Harris, he falls back to focusing on Joe Biden, who isn’t even in the race anymore. Trump is hapless and flailing and it’s fun to watch.
