Donald Trump’s hair raising debacle

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We are already seeing the contrast between two campaigns: One is centered around making life better for the American people; the other, all about himself. According to the Guardian (via Reuters), with everything going on in the US today – over five million confirmed cases of coronavirus and over 165,000 deaths — what is “president” Donald Trump’s most pressing concern? His hair, which is hopelessly ugly anyway. Trump had the unmitigated gall to say: “Because my hair — I don’t know about you, but it has to be perfect.”

News Flash, Trump: You should be more concerned about your supply of Aqua Net than your water. If we ever run out of that, you will be doomed. These ridiculous “concerns” make vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ words just that much more powerful.

During her first appearance with Joe Biden Wednesday, Harris spoke about things of importance to the American people. She touched on the fact that Trump has mismanaged the pandemic, making it worse than it should have been, and the protests stemming from systematic racism in the country. “America is crying out for leadership. Yet, we have a president who cares more about himself than the people who elected him,” Harris said. It is blatantly obvious that those words hold truth when the “president” is more concerned about calling a meeting about shower pressure than he is about even acknowledging — let alone addressing – the real, pressing problems in this country. She then contrasted Biden to Donald Trump in the best way possible.

She shared Biden’s story of riding between his home and office for four hours a day to ensure he spent time with his sons. His wife and daughter had just died in an accident, and he did not want his sons to be further traumatized by his absence. Harris said that Biden is “someone whose first response, when things get tough, is never to think about himself, but to take care of everybody else.” Then, she depicted Trump as “a president who cares more about himself than the people who elected him.”

Considering that Trump is worried about his cotton-candy-like hair while people are suffering and dying, Harris hit the proverbial nail on the head. She also publicly acknowledged that like the businesses Trump inherited and destroyed, Trump inherited “the longest economic expansion in history and then, like everything else he inherited, he ran it straight into the ground.” Ouch. It seems that Harris’s digs at Trump are much more painful than any he has come up with.

CNN reported that Biden seemed to “enjoy” bringing up Trump’s attempts to denigrate Harris. Biden asked, “Is anyone surprised Donald Trump has a problem with a strong woman?” Not really. The New York Times reported that Trump is using the same sexist terms that he did with Clinton, but he applies icing to his cake by referring to the “good suburban women,” 66% of whom disapprove of the job he has (not) done. Trump is not only sexist, homophobic, racist, and a misogynist, but he is dumb as a box of rocks.
