Donald Trump reduced to groveling to Nancy Pelosi behind the scenes
Earlier today, Palmer Report explained why Donald Trump has been so afraid to publicly attack Speaker Nancy Pelosi: she’s the one who will decide when and how his impeachment begins, and he knows that she holds his fate in her hands. Now it turns out Trump is doing more than merely avoiding attacking her in public; he’s also groveling to her behind the scenes.
Donald Trump keeps holding private meetings with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, in an ongoing failed effort to convince them to fund his imaginary border wall. According to CBS News, during their latest such meeting, Trump was less focused on the wall or the shutdown, and more focused on his own inevitable impeachment. In fact he went so far as to ask, “Why does everyone want to impeach me, Nancy?”
Make no mistake: Donald Trump knows that Nancy Pelosi controls his fate. When you’re asking the person in charge of impeachment why everyone wants to impeach you, it means you’re asking not to be impeached. It’s like asking the sheriff why the police are all trying to arrest you. Trump is groveling here, and he’s not even being all that subtle about it.
Donald Trump is groveling behind the scenes, and he seems to be too addled to understand that these things are always going to leak. So he’s not groveling in public – at least not yet. But this is the guy who famously tweeted that the GOP should “DO SOMETHING” to save him back when the party was still in position to do so. That means we can expect Trump to start publicly begging Pelosi to save him eventually. She won’t oblige.
