President-elect Joe Biden launches official government site as transition moves forward

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Tonight, President-elect Joe Biden launched the buildbackbetter.gov website. His Communications Director Kate Bedingfield made a point of stressing that it’s a “.gov” website. Why is this important? Did Biden forget to buy the “.com” version?

No, not at all. Joe Biden has already had the buildbackbetter.com website in place for a little while. The reason it’s a big deal that he’s launching a “.gov” version of the site is that in order to do so, you have to be the government. Specifically, you need approval from the GSA. Biden was able to launch buildbackbetter.gov tonight because the transition has officially begun.

Tweet of the day, from former CIA Director John Brennan: “For four years, I spoke out vigorously against Donald Trump’s craven dishonesty, corrupt pursuit of personal interests, & trampling of our democratic principles. After serving over three decades in national security, I felt compelled to condemn Trump’s depravity & incompetence … I now plan to ignore Trump. I leave his fate to our judicial system, his infamy to history, & his legacy to a trash heap.”
