Donald Trump just gave away that he’s got nothing for 2020
Much of the mainstream media has already decided that this is Doomsday Week. Various pundits are trying to take advantage of the public’s vulnerable mindset in the wake of Donald Trump’s sham impeachment acquittal, by trying to convince everyone that Trump is now somehow magically winning. After all, there are few better ratings ploys than trying to scare people into staying tuned in.
The thing is, Donald Trump apparently didn’t get the memo. In the days since it became clear that witnesses wouldn’t be called before the Republican Senate corruptly acquits him, Trump hasn’t been in a mood to celebrate. Instead he’s been in a sullen mood, giving away his frustrations on Twitter, and leaking imaginary revenge plots to the media that he can’t possibly carry out.
In other words, Trump doesn’t see any real hope for 2020, and isn’t even interested in playing the part. This was confirmed a thousand times over when he decided to use his State of the Union address to give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to one of the most divisive and despised men in America, Rush Limbaugh.
Donald Trump’s idiot base might be impressed by this kind of “Screw you America” move. But Trump’s base alone isn’t even close to being large enough to put him over the top in 2020 by itself. Trump needs to expand his support, by finding a way to win over people who neither love him nor hate him. Instead, by giving a prestigious award to a piece of human excrement like Limbaugh, he’s probably costing himself votes. He’s got nothing. If we work hard and work smart, we’ll beat him in November. It’s as simple as that.
