GOP Senator’s own brother comes out swinging against him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Senator Tommy Tuberville has been in the news quite a bit lately. This news has ranged from Tommy defending white nationalists to insulting teachers. On and on, he’s gone. The news stories about him have been relentless. And now he’s in the news again. Because someone else is speaking out about him. That someone is his brother.

Charles Tuberville lives in Oklahoma and is a musician. He sounds like a decent guy — lots more decent, sadly, than his Senator of a brother. On May 26, Charles wrote a Facebook message. Here is part of what he had to say:

“As some of you know, my brother Tommy Tuberville is the senior U.S. Senator from the state of Alabama elected in 2021.”

“I feel compelled to distance myself from his ignorant, hateful rants. What I’m trying to say is that I DO NOT agree with any of the vile rhetoric coming out of his mouth.”

“Please don’t confuse my brother with me.”

“Thanks.
Charles Tuberville”

What a courageous man. To stand up this way — against a family member, no less — strikes me as brave. He’s as brave as Tommy is foolhardy.

Tuberville — the foolhardy one — has done quite a bit of damage lately. Tommy seems to revel in that damage. A lot of these Republicans, many of whom are angling to be cable news contributors once they finish out their terms, seem pleased as a punch when they say something particularly stupid. Tommy is no different in that regard.

But how nice it is to hear from a family member of a corrupt Senator who is not corrupt. Perhaps Charles Tuberville should think about running for office in the future.
