GOP Senator Pat Toomey just kneecapped Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Donald Trump’s decision to “contest” the election is looking more and more like a simple cash grab, as he solicits donations for his election legal fund that the fine print says he can simply stick into this own pocket. But since Trump’s underlings like Bill Barr and Mike Pompeo have started to give the vague appearance that they support Trump’s effort, it’s caused some people to worry.

Here’s the thing. Earlier today the first House Republican publicly congratulated President-elect Joe Biden. It was a reminder that the longer Trump drags this out, the more humiliating it becomes for the GOP, and the more likely they are to start moving on from him.

Sure enough, Republican Senator Pat Toomey, who just happens to represent the state of Pennsylvania that Trump is pretending to contest, publicly announced today that “I think a transition process ought to begin” to Joe Biden. This doesn’t really come as a surprise.

It’s not that someone like Pat Toomey is suddenly growing a backbone or a conscience; those are irrelevant concepts in the Republican world. Instead, people like Toomey are simply deciding to side with their own future political viability at the expense of Trump’s political viability.

In the end, it was always going to be every Republican for himself as Trump circled the drain. Now that Senator Toomey is kneecapping Trump by publicly pushing Trump to begin the transition process to President-elect Biden, it makes it all the more difficult for Trump to hold onto the position that he’ll just somehow magically not do the transition.
