While Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign is still building momentum and setting records for the number of volunteers and fundraising, we’ve got a number of tough races on our hands besides the White House that we absolutely must win in November. Aside from 22 close House races that depend on us putting in the work for the Democratic candidate, we also have to win Senate races in Montana and Ohio to give Democrats a 50-50 majority with Tim Walz as the tie breaking vote. West Virginia is no longer winnable and Florida’s Senate seat is still a reach.

The good news is that Republicans have managed to make a lot of careless mistakes up to this point, with a particularly weak candidate in Ohio running for Sen. Sherrod Brown’s seat. We got a bit more good news just this week with the announcement that the National Republican Senate Committee canceled their fall cable reservations for Republican Bernie Moreno – TV spots that were meant to begin airing at the end of the month through Election Day. Flipping a Senate seat is a tall order, even if you have a good candidate. Republicans not only have a scandal plagued used car salesman for their candidate, they’re not even outspending Sherrod Brown.

This means we have a decent chance to run up the score and get Sherrod Brown re-elected on Nov 5. Internal polling shows Donald Trump losing ground which means that he’s likely to win the state by less than expected and potentially cost Republicans the seat. It also, means, however, that we need to be vigilant, as the money could be diverted to the Montana Senate race where we need to get Sen. Jon Tester elected, or the open contest for the Michigan Senate seat, where Elissa Slotkin is running. Let’s put in the work and make sure these three strong Democrats win their contests and we’ll be able to keep the Senate on Nov 5.
