GOP just stepped in it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Fourth of July should be an easy opportunity for just about anyone in American politics to score some easy points. All you have to do is post the kind of generic patriotic message that most or all Americans will identify with, and you’ve got yourself a home run.

Unfortunately for the Republican Party, it’s now in such a state of incompetent disrepair that it couldn’t even land its July 4th tweet. The official @GOP Twitter account was forced to delete a “Fourth of July” after it included not one but two instances of the Liberian flag instead of the United States flag.

This wasn’t just some tiny mistaken emoji that came as the result of not being able to squint properly. It was a pair of large flags at the center of the tweet. It’s a mistake anyone could make. But the Republican Party isn’t just anyone. It’s surreal that an organization of its size isn’t having anyone competent check its work before tweets are posted.
