GOP caught off guard by Tim Walz

Despite the rather loud rumblings, the GOP seems to have largely been caught off guard by Vice President Harris selecting Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate. Itโs not clear if they just were overly certain it was going to be Gov. Shapiro or some other pick, but considering that a short list with six candidates was circulating for about a week, itโs pretty stupid to do no basic oppositional research on any potential candidate. When calling Walz a radical leftist Marxist fell flat – since the guy is pretty much a normie liberal Democrat by any objective standard – Vance, already buried in more scandals than we can keep track of, decided one more probably didnโt hurt, as he was speaking to a pretty small crowd in Michigan anyway.
He decided to go after Walzโs military service record – something thatโs pretty depraved for a fellow soldier to do – even for a guy like Vance. This should be the centerpiece of any argument if someone tries to parrot Vanceโs talking point: How dare Vance (who likes to brag about being a former marine) go after the record of a retired sergeant major. What does he think leave no soldier behind means? Thatโs all you need to say to put any right-wing clowns back on the defensive and shut them down.
Of course, Vanceโs accusations are so nonsensical that the organization VoteVets called them both bullshit right out of the gate and fact checked both. Unfortunately for Vance, the actual issue that Republicans wanted to use is probably not going to fly because Donald Trump openly praised Walzโs use of the national guard during the George Floyd protests in a phone call. The GOP is flailing and all their best attacks are drying up rapidly while we have the momentum, so letโs use it to get out the vote, canvass, and phone bank so we can elect Kamala Harris and give her a Democratic House and Senate on Nov 5.
