Goodbye, Mar-a-Lago!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s infamous Mar-a-Lago party a few weeks ago became a hotbed for coronavirus transmission, to the point that multiple attendees ended up sick, and multiple Republican members of Congress ended up quarantined. Last week Palmer Report suggested that the entire place should be shut down for public safety reasons.

Sure enough, that’s finally happened. According to a New York Times report this evening, Mar-a-Lago is now officially shut down until further notice. Again, we’re not rooting for anyone to catch this virus, no matter who they are. But there is something fitting about Trump’s unwillingness to do the job of being President, his constant vacations to Mar-a-Lago, and the fact that the place has now been shuttered due to his incompetence.

Unfortunately, this same NY Times article reveals that Donald Trump is recklessly keeping some of his other properties open, including his Doral resort in the Miami area, where he still has the swimming pool open. This is just absurd, considering even the Mayor of Miami has caught the coronavirus. But Trump has to grift money from somewhere, we suppose, even during a pandemic crisis of his own making.
