We haven’t even gotten to the good part yet
In a sign of just how dark things have gotten, true patriotism requires actively rooting for the guy in the Oval Office’s scandals to get even more horrifying; it’s now objectively fair to refer to the comeuppance from those scandals as the “good part.” Over the past few days we’ve began to see that comeuppance, as the general consensus shifts toward Donald Trump not surviving this. The remarkable thing is that we haven’t even truly gotten to the good part yet.
Sure, Donald Trump’s top campaign guy just went on trial, and he’s already in jail. Yeah, Trump’s former top fixer guy has begun leaking evidence against him. And yeah, Trump is now faced with making an imminent no-win decision when it comes to being interviewed by prosecutors about his crimes. But of this is nothing compared to what’s about to drop on Trump’s head.
Michael Cohen is doing real damage to Trump now, but that’ll escalate dramatically once he cuts his now-inevitable plea deal. Paul Manafort appears to be no more than weeks away from being convicted, and Roger Stone will be indicted and arrested soon, which will add to the perception among the general public that Trump and the people closest to him really are nothing but criminals. That’s before getting to the seemingly inevitable Maria Butina plea deal. Oh, and lest we forget that before much longer, Robert Mueller will bust out the evidence he gained against Trump when he cut those long-ago plea deals with Rick Gates and Michael Flynn.
If you’ve been waiting for the proverbial “good part” when it comes to Donald Trump’s criminal antics leading to his demise, the past several days have felt like a welcome relief. But keep in mind that, in terms of how ugly this is going to get for Trump, we really haven’t seen anything yet. Things will only get uglier for him from here.
