Donald Trump goes bonkers
Earlier this morning we mused that Donald Trump had gone awfully quiet; it had been thirty hours since he’d been seen or heard in public, and thirteen hours since he’d even tweeted anything. Now Trump has posted one bonkers all-caps tweet, which makes clear just how desperate and confused he is about how everything is collapsing for him.
Trump simply tweeted this: “STOP THE COUNT!” He appears to be talking about Pennsylvania and Georgia, where Joe Biden continues to close the gap as the mail-in ballots are finally counted. But if all counting ceased right now across the nation, Biden would win Arizona and Nevada, thus putting him over the top.
In other words, Donald Trump just demanded something that would cause him to lose the election if it happened. Like we said, bonkers. But this tends to happen when things are falling apart for someone. Trump needs the counting to stop in two states in order to survive them, but he needs it to continue in two other states in order to have any chance at all, so he doesn’t even know what he’s asking for at this point. He’s not just groveling, he’s groveling incoherently.
