Donald Trump keeps losing in court, both because his moves are illegal and because his regime is too competent to defend itself. With the majority of Trump’s agenda now blocked or overturned by the courts, Trump is publicly flirting with the idea of simply ignoring court rulings.

I believe Trump and his henchmen are floating this idea with the specific intent of trying to scare everyone into believing that Trump is invincible and inevitable and that we should all just lay down and let him have his way. After all, if he can convince us all that he’ll be able to get away with defying court rulings, then he just might be able to pull it off.

But it appears Trump’s big talk is backfiring. New polling reveals that 84% of Americans are opposed to Trump defying court rulings. This is a stunningly large number for a political issue, as it shows that nearly the entire country has the same view on this – and it’s not what Trump was hoping to hear.

The way I look at it is that if Trump wants to go ahead and try defying a court ruling, so be it. All it’ll do is make him even more unpopular, which is the best possible way to erode his political muscle. It would also likely prompt the Supreme Court to intervene and reassert its dominance (those right wing Justices care more about their own corrupt power base than Trump’s), which would end up making Trump even weaker. So by all means, Trump, make my day.
