Give me a break
We’re not on the verge of a “civil war.” Give me a break. Polls show 80% of Americans agree Biden won. That includes a majority of Trump’s own voters. The only place this election is being “contested” is on Twitter and cable news. In the real world, this discussion doesn’t exist.
It’s not being contested in the streets; there were zero violent skirmishes when the winner was called. It’s not (really) being contested in court; Trump is 0-for-12 in his frivolous suits, all of which had literally zero chance of going anywhere.
It’s not being “contested” in the Pennsylvania state legislature; that’s not a thing, no matter how many conspiracy theorists (on both sides) keep insisting it’s a thing.
It’s not being contested by the DOJ, where Bill Barr did nothing for a week, until Trump started firing people, and then Barr launched a “probe” that consisted of nothing more than a press release. Barr’s probes aren’t designed to go anywhere; they’re designed to keep Trump sated.
It’s not being contested on the world stage, where major world leaders have not only congratulated President-elect Biden, but reportedly have begun having formal phone conversations with him as the newly elected head of state.
It’s not being contested in Congress. Most House and Senate Republicans are refusing to acknowledge (yet) that Biden won, because they’re afraid of hurting Trump’s feelings too soon. But none of them are claiming Trump won.
It’s not being contested at the State Department; Mike Pompeo’s “joke” was stupid and inappropriate and seditious, but all it did was make Pompeo look like an idiot and weaken his position in all of this.
It’s not even really being contested on cable news. Joy Reid opened her MSNBC show tonight by confirming there is a 100% chance Biden will take office. Fox News cut off Kayleigh’s press conference yesterday. And so on.
And no, the election is not being contested by Donald Trump. The fine print reveals that the donations he’s seeking for his ‘election legal fund’ are actually just going into his pocket. This is simply a stunt for cash, as is most of what Trump does.
The only place on this entire planet where the election is being “contested” is on the internet – and that tells you all you need to know.
