Georgia Supreme Court sides with Fani Willis, crushes Donald Trump’s pipe dream of surviving this

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Days ago Donald Trump formally asked the Georgia Supreme Court to remove Fulton County DA Fani Willis from her criminal case against Trump and his co-conspirators. The move reeked of desperation, and sure enough, the court unanimously rejected Trump’s case today.

To be clear, there was always a one hundred percent chance that it would play out this way. Trump had no legal basis of any kind for his filing, so the court couldn’t have found a way to side with him even if it wanted to. This filing has also bought Trump zero days in terms of delaying justice; Willis’ indictment process was not interrupted by this nuisance filing.

So what was Trump’s strategy here? There was none. This filing was nothing but sheer desperation and frustration, guaranteed not to benefit him in any way. It’s just that he wanted to be able to feel like he was doing “something” to help himself. His remaining attorneys surely wanted to be seen as doing something to help him as well. But it’s all for nothing.

Today’s ruling helps to further crush any pipe dream that Trump might still have about somehow magically surviving this. He’s getting indicted in Georgia. He’s going on trial. He’s going to prison. And of course that’s only one of the multiple jurisdictions where Trump is – to put it in legal terms – screwed.
