Georgia judge laughs at Donald Trump’s attempted stall tactic, doesn’t even let Trump file a response

For all the defeatist hysteria about how Donald Trump is just going to delay his three criminal trials until after the 2024 election, now and then the real world reminds us that there’s no such thing.

Trump filed a nuisance appeal aimed at getting his Fulton County indictment thrown out before it even happens. After DA Fani Willis filed her reply, Trump tried to stall by asking for 21 days to respond. Now the judge has laughed off Trump’s request, saying that he’s not even interested in Trump’s response.

This is a really good reminder that Donald Trump is not in charge of how any of this is going to play out. Judges do not allow criminal defendants to just stall their indictments and trials for as long as they please. That’s simply not a real thing. Fani Willis will indict Trump when she’s ready to indict him. Trump’s criminal trial in Georgia will take place when the judge decides it should. Trump will have no say in any of it. That will also go for Trump’s federal criminal trial once Special Counsel Jack Smith indicts him.
