Major networks all call Georgia for Joe Biden ahead of Donald Trump’s press conference meltdown
Even after the remaining major networks called Arizona for Joe Biden late last night, it appeared they were all planning to wait until after the Georgia recount before calling that state for Biden. Then Donald Trump announced at around 2pm today that he was going to hold a press conference at 4pm, and shortly thereafter, the networks all called Georgia for Biden.
Maybe it’s all mere happenstance. But it sure feels like the networks were waiting to call Georgia for Biden until after the recount just to avoid controversy, and then once they realized Trump was going to falsely declare victory in the Rose Garden today, they decided to go ahead and call Georgia. This should’t be the criteria; Biden clearly won Georgia a couple days ago and should have been called at that time. But better late than never.
This fully puts Donald Trump’s fantasy about contesting the election out of its misery. Trump would have needed to find a way to win Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia in order to get to 270. Now he’s officially lost all of those states. Trump never did have a path. But now he can’t even pretend anymore.
