George Santos has bonkers meltdown, gives away that he knows the end is near

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On Saturday, certain House Republicans publicly let it be known that they were ready to cut some kind of deal with Hakeem Jeffries and the House Democrats on a compromise Speaker. Suffice it to say that George Santos didn’t take the news well.

Santos, who got hit with even more felony criminal charges earlier this week and was then seen carrying around a baby that he admitted wasn’t his, before ditching the baby and running up and down the congressional halls while yelling the f-word, is now weighing in on who should be Speaker. More specifically, Santos is melting down. He’s threatening to resign if a compromise Speaker is elected. No really, he’s threatening to resign. A guy no one even wants there is threatening to resign. This is pathetic.

But there’s an underlying story here. George Santos knows that if a bipartisan compromise Speaker is elected, one of the first things they’ll likely do is expel Santos. Most House Republicans don’t want to have to deal with his scandals anymore, and have only been keeping him around because they might need his vote to pick a Speaker. If that ceases being a thing anyway, Republicans and Democrats will come together to kick Santos out.

So it’s not surprising that George Santos is threatening to resign. He’d only be doing it to avoid getting expelled. Santos knows the end is near. The closer he gets to a conviction and a prison cell, the less valuable he becomes to his own party. At this rate Santos could be gone from Congress rather quickly. Now is a good time to get to know Anna Kaplan, the Democratic candidate running to take Santos’ seat – whether that happens in November 2024 or a special election sooner than that.
