General Motors abandons Donald Trump, CEO gets on board with President-elect Joe Biden
We told you that the longer and more absurdly Donald Trump dragged out his election loss, the more of his allies would turn against him for their own selfish or pragmatic reasons. Sure enough, Trump has now lost General Motors, which was on Trump’s side in a legal battle over pollution, but is now joining California’s side in court.
It’s a clear sign that General Motors understands this is now the Biden era, and that it has little choice but to find a way to prosper under President-elect Biden. Sure enough, General Motors CEO Mary Barra is now emphatically signaling her agreement with Biden’s desire to shift to more electric cars.
This is a big deal, but it was also inevitable. The Trump regime’s court case against California will surely be dropped the minute Joe Biden is sworn in. By joining California’s side now, General Motors is trying to make sure it still has a seat at the table in the Biden era. This is, simply, how politics works. Trump’s corporate allies were never going to risk their own viability just to avoid hurting his feelings about the fact that he lost.
