Donald Trump goes berserk after Rick gates testifies that Paul Manafort is a career criminal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates took the witness stand today and testified that he conspired with Trump’s campaign chairman to commit several crimes. This was a brutal blow to Trump himself. If Manafort is convicted, it’ll strengthen Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s efforts to take Trump down. It was also a reminder that Gates, who has cut a plea deal, will end up testifying against Trump as well. Just after Gates took the stand, Trump began short circuiting.

For the first time we can recall, Donald Trump tried to create a distraction this afternoon by simply posting the same tweet he’d posted a day earlier. It was a bizarre and semi-coherent rant about how the only way to stop the wildfires in California is to cut down all the trees and get rid of the rivers, or something like that. He did fix one typo in the process, changing “amount” to “amounts” – but this seemed to be more about recycling material in the hope of creating a distraction. Then it got weirder.

Trump also went on an unhinged rant about how Democrats are supposedly soft on crime, which is ironic considering that as he was typing this, the #2 guy in his campaign was testifying that he and the #1 guy in his campaign were career criminals. Who’s supposed to be soft on crime here? Of course he screwed up this tweet, typing “that our protecting” before immediately deleting it with a corrected version.

So there you have it. Donald Trump can’t bring himself to say anything about Rick Gates or Paul Manafort, at least not yet. Instead he’s flailing around in berserk fashion, trying desperately to distract us from the fact that his presidential campaign was a criminal enterprise, run by criminals who are now turning on each other. Gates’ plea deal means that he’ll end up testifying against Trump as well.
