Trump is even further gone than we thought

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As one witness from the Trump administration after another comes forward to testify to the House impeachment committee about Donald Trump’s crimes, it’s becoming clear that he has no easy way out of this. Now Trump is demonstrating that when it comes to trying to craft a defense for himself, he’s even further gone than we thought.

Here’s what Trump tweeted about the tsunami of testimony: “Democrats are allowing no transparency at the Witch Hunt hearings. If Republicans ever did this they would be excoriated by the Fake News. Let the facts come out from the charade of people, most of whom I do not know, they are interviewing for 9 hours each, not selective leaks.”

To be clear, the people who have testified thus far include U.S. Envoy Kurt Volker, who was appointed by Trump; former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, who was nominated by Trump and then later illegally fired by Trump; and former National Security Council official Fiona Hill, who worked directly for Trump for two and a half years. His position is that he doesn’t know these people.

Either Donald Trump is telling the kind of lie that he knows can be easily disproven, or he’s honestly forgotten these people. Either way, he’s further gone than we thought.
