Fulton County DA Fani Willis confirms her Trump probe will not be paused over DOJ’s Trump indictment

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

New York Attorney General Letitia James recently appeared to suggest that all state-level cases against Trump would pause until the DOJ was done with Trump. I just assumed she misspoke and ignored it, because she knows that’s not how things really work. But some folks in the media nonetheless used James’ words as an excuse to scare audiences into worrying that the various state-level cases against Trump might indeed be in danger of indefinite hiatus.

Now Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is confirming that her criminal case against Trump will not be affected by the DOJ’s criminal case against Trump. This ultimately isn’t surprising. At all.

It’s true that federal prosecutors customarily get first dibs in general. But the notion that these state cases against Trump would actually be put on pause until Trump’s DOJ trial is over, is kind of laughable.

Remember, the media in general will always jump on anything that it can spin into “oh no Trump has found a magic wand, he’s going to get away with it all, stay tuned!.” Doesn’t matter how flimsy it is. Doesn’t even matter if it was simply an instance of someone obviously misspeaking. The media will still try to milk it for ratings.

This is the same media and pundit class that near-unanimously claimed a bill passed by Georgia Republicans would allow them to remove Fani Willis from office before she could indict Trump – even though the bill explicitly did NOT give them the ability to do that. Funny how they don’t even talk about that one anymore.

In any case, let’s always remember not to fall for this stuff. If a scary new media narrative sounds too ridiculous to be realistic, it usually turns out to be overstated, misleading, or outright fictional. It’s best to give it a minute and find out whether such narratives are even true, rather than jumping into an immediate panic over it.
