Fulton County DA empanels special grand jury against Donald Trump, appears to be racing New York to indict Trump first

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Just a few days ago the Washington Post reported that the Manhattan District Attorney was empaneling a new grand jury for the purpose of bringing additional criminal indictments in the investigation into the finances of Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. This strongly points to Donald Trump and/or his family being indicted soon. This appears to have gotten the attention of the Fulton County Georgia District Attorney, who is now making a move of her own.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis is preparing to empanel a special grand jury for the purpose of speeding up her criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s felony election tampering, according to the New York Times. This move would allow the case against Trump to essentially skip the line when it comes to the pandemic-related backlog of criminal cases pending in Fulton County, so she can build and complete her case without further delay, before returning to the regular grand jury process to bring indictments in the end. The probe has previously been reported to be targeting Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, Lindsey Graham, and others.

The timing here seems pretty obvious. By letting the media know that it’s empaneling a new grand jury, the Manhattan DA has tipped off that Donald Trump could be indicted and arrested at any time. Now the Fulton County DA is suddenly looking to speed up her own timetable for indicting and arresting Trump. It appears they’re in a race at this point to see who gets to arrest Trump first, which could determine who gets to put him on trial first and other matters.

It’s clear that neither District Attorney has any interest in moving at the kind of reckless speed that could result in a flawed or insufficient criminal case that could allow Trump to be acquitted, or else they’d have simply arrested him already. But it’s now becoming just as clear that both District Attorneys are hoping to (responsibly) get to the finish line first.

It was also reported last month that Westchester New York District Attorney Mimi Rocah is criminally investigating Donald Trump’s finances, though it’s not clear how far along that probe is. But Trump is now highly likely to end up being indicted in multiple jurisdictions on a variety of felony charges, and it’s more clear than ever that he’s on a path to prison.
