Fulton County Courthouse gears up for Trump indictments
On Friday, local Atlanta media reported that the main road outside the Fulton County Courthouse would be closed starting today, lasting for two weeks. You don’t close major downtown roads without a good reason, so we took that as a sign that we truly have entered the window for Fani Willis’ indictments against Donald Trump and his co-conspirators.
Then came the news today from Lawfare’s Anna Bower that the Monday-Tuesday grand jury didn’t appear to be hearing any Trump-related cases today, along with her expectation that it won’t hear them tomorrow either. Nonetheless, the road closures did happen today as scheduled. So where does this leave us?
Bower has stated that she expects the action to most likely come next week. In the meantime we wait. Even if Fani Willis isn’t presenting her indictments to the grand jury this week, significant news could still surface this week about what the indictments will look like. And because grand jury proceedings are secret by default, there could always end up being surprise indictments sooner than expected. Stay tuned.
