Fox News is in freefall – and so is CNN
Some cable news networks are not precisely singing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. That’s because Cable news is having a problem right now. And that problem is — they’re imploding in real-time. Cable news has long struggled with ratings. All of them have had significant difficulties retaining and holding viewers. Cable viewership is way down. But for a few networks, they’re having to deal with other serious issues.
Let’s start with Fox non-news. Since Tucker was fired (doesn’t that sound wonderful? TUCKER WAS FIRED.) Fox has seen their ratings in free-fall. Some of their top pundits, like Sean Hannity, are shedding viewers by huge numbers. So now Fox is faced with trying to replace their little monster.
To that end, Fox has been having what many widely seen as an audition. Almost every night, there is a new face hosting Tucker’s Hour. And so far, there has been much rejection from viewers of almost ALL of them.
And one of them just got Fox in yet more hot water. Jesse Watters is widely seen as a possible replacement for Tucker. Both men share MANY of the same characteristics, including dishonesty, racism, sexism, and not knowing when to shut up. This was very much at the forefront for Watters this week as the possible Tucker replacement proclaimed idiotically that he could tell who is an illegal immigrant just by looking at them.
The morons are alive and well and living at Fox. Watters claimed that because he’s “a city guy,” he can look at someone and KNOW — know whether they are illegal or not. Are we absolutely sure Watters ever graduated from kindergarten? Do we have proof? So, needless to say, Fox is having a miserable time. Here’s raising a glass to many more miserable times at the fake network.
But it’s not just Fox! CNN is also awash in misery — and it isn’t just the Trump town hall. Of course, that town Hall is getting the familiar calls for boycotts. But reportedly, Chris Licht is in desperation mode. This is because in the time he’s been at the network, he’s struggled to make ONE decision that makes sense.
And Licht recently hired Gayle King and Charles Barkley to appear once a week on a new CNN show called “King Charles.” (subtle.) But reports are saying this is the last chance for Licht — and if he doesn’t deliver more eyes to the network, he may be out of a job. It can’t happen soon enough for me.
So right now, we have two networks at least in absolute free-fall. How they handle their crises will tell us a lot about what will happen to both networks in the future.
