Fox News cuts away from Donald Trump’s speech in order to defend President Obama

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump and his administration parked a pair of pickup trucks outside the White House today, and put on a bizarre show which involved a giant Trump-branded crane lifting a bunch of weights out of a truck bed. Trump insisted it was somehow proof that he had gotten rid of Obama-era regulations that had made it difficult to manufacture trucks or something.

Just how absurd of a debacle was it? Even Fox News ended up cutting in during Donald Trump’s rambling speech in order to clarify that President Obama had never done any such thing when it came to regulations. That’s right, Fox News cut off Trump in order to defend Obama. So why would they do this?

The short answer is that Fox News has to retain relative credibility with its own audience in order to retain that audience. Fox viewers are obviously gullible and/or brainwashed or they wouldn’t be watching to begin with. But Donald Trump took things so far beyond the pale today that Fox must have felt its own audience would know Trump was lying, and therefore Fox had to get out in front of it. We’re that far down the rabbit hole now.
