Fox News cuts and runs

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

For the past week, right wing propaganda sites have been falsely claiming that the Biden administration is providing federal funding for crack pipes. This lie was obviously crafted with the specific intent of playing up Hunter Biden’s past substance abuse issues.

Now that right wingers have spent the past week kicking the “crack pipe” lie around, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made a point today of shutting it down during her press briefing. But just as she was making this clear, Fox News conveniently cut away from the briefing.

This is typical of Fox News’ approach to these kinds of false stories. It knows that much of its audience hears these false stories from right wing propaganda sites, and it makes a point of ensuring that its audience never does find out that these stories are false. That makes Fox complicit in helping this kind of fake news to spread.
